I'm new to the forum and I have 2005 GTI 1.8T, I recently put some new 18" wheels on it and it now definitely needs to be lowered a bit. I spoke to my mechanic about it and he says if I'm just wanting to lower it for looks, than I shouldn't bother because I live downtown Toronto and the roads are rough as hell. He says I will hate driving my car because it will ride so rough.
So I'm looking for input from people in Toronto that drive lowered GTI's and how they like it

Hey there my names Cris. I bought my 02 Jetta 1.8t about a month ago and love it. Heres my update of the things that ive done to it :)

Thankfully the car was pretty much bone-stock and it was a one-owner car :D

Debadged grill, blackhousing headlights with hid's :)

Stock 4x4 height along with 15" VW rims wrapped in WINTER HERO tires -__-" :(


















My first mod, and idc that some people think its stupid, and yes i know its also kinda bad for performance, but i bought a BOV cuz i love the noise and im going low n slow anyways :D:thumbup:
Bought it at Eurospot, here it is with the 2 other springs for when and if the car ends up pushing more boost (doubt it though)

Here it is after spending a damn hour taking out the stupid ass one-time use clamps. Pieces of crap -__-" But i LOVE the sound it makes :turbo:;)


Picked up JOM coilovers as i got them for a good deal and read that they weren't that bad. The drop they give my car is ridiculous :eek: Heres a pic of them when i just bought them :)






After the car was finished getting the coils in :) not spun all the way down but pretty low, needed to let the springs sag and see where it sat after a week.



My car and my buddies civic sir after we both got them dropped. :D (and yes, one of my close buddies i always roll with drives a Civic, im not 'carsist' *racist to cars* lool)




After a nice wash that same day.




Got some stickers and planning on getting rims soon powdercoated that same purple :D



Spun the coils a bit lower :) I spun them all the way down for one night and had to raise it, i scraped EVERYWHERE, even on a flat road lool, so il only spin them all the way down for special events. :D:thumbup:
as of now, i scrape every now and then with slight bumps and my winter tires are really fat so when i turn they rub against the fender liner (annoying as hell lol)





Next on list-

18" Rims with rears being 9.5" wide (yes will need to roll fender and stretch tires :) )

So I have gotten an earlier start to this then I did last year. Some dates still need to be announced and will be updated once dates are confirmed also a link to the event thread and or web site will be provided. Some of the smaller, older shows I can't find any information that they are still happening this year like Border Bash or VagWood. Seems like quite a few shows are over lapping this year.

Okay so does anyone have a link or can list for me (other than VW regular scheduled as per manual) suggested maintenance for my car (see below) I`m coming up on 170k and I wanna keep my car running strong for years to come. I see stuff listed on some sites like MAF cleaning, TB cleaning etc. but I was wondering if anyone has ever made a complete list of these things that should be done. I would assume that things need to be lubricated, cleaned etc... that is not mentioned in the manual
